A good friend of mine mentioned that the Much Music VJs (Jesse, Liz, Sarah and Tim: http://www.muchmusic.com/tv/personalities/) were going to jump into Lost Lake in Whistler BC.  As it is the middle of February and the lake is FROZEN I grabbed my camera crew (Sam McRae) and headed out to catch the action.

With the air temperature near 0 degrees and the water at 10 degrees I was shocked when the crew hopped in and went for a casual Tuesday afternoon swim.  Lost lake is near the base of Whistler Blackcomb and is a great place to canoe in the summer months, however no canoes and no clothes were involved in this “Polar Bear Swim”.  Their segment will air on Canadian Television on Much on Demand, during the Olympic Games in Whistler.

Chilled to the bones we were pretty surprised to see the crew gear up in some Icebreaker to bring their core temperature up normal.  Although we typically use our gear for alpine events such as Nordic skiing, sledding and downhill skiing, we will have to add Polar Bear Swim to the mix now too!!!
